How to Style a Felt Hat

Surprise, surprise...another hat! I did say in my last blog post that I was having a major hat moment. My favorite way to style this type of brimmed felt hat is with a more casual look. On this occasion, I went with a basic graphic tee, some fun checkered pants, and patent leather combat boots. Since it's still pretty warm in San Diego I didn't throw on a jacket- but if it would have been a little chillier, a light wash denim jacket would've gone great! So remember, next time you want to elevate a more casual look just throw on a hat!

Houndstooth Jumper

It's officially sweater weather and I could not be happier! Something I love about fall is layering. Not the actual concept of being cold and having to throw on a billion sweaters and jackets to get cozy- but the look of a cute autumnal outfit. Because if you know me, you know that I strongly dislike the cold. I guess I should be thankful it doesn't snow here!

So in true fall fashion, I decided to style this houndstooth jumper with a white turtleneck sweater underneath. I love the lettuce trim on the sleeve; I think it just adds the cutest, most subtle girly touch. I also wore a black cabbie cat because I am OBSESSED with hats at the moment. Every color, every kind. For shoes, I went with these black patent leather combat boots which have the most comfortable chunky heel ever. They're perfect for everyday wear and make any outfit look super edgy (which I am all about)!

Animal Print for Fall

Woah. Long time no blog. It has been about six months since I last posted on here and I definitely miss it. I used to be so on top of uploading something at least once a month, and I have been lagging for sure. So here I am again! And I'll *hopefully* be getting back into the swing of things because I really do miss blogging. It's my little creative escape!

So now...onto the outfit! Something I can already tell I'll be wearing A LOT of this season is animal print. Snakeskin and leopard print, to be exact (all faux, of course). I love how edgy these prints are and something else I really like is that you can dress these pieces up like I did, or you can dress them down with some distressed denim and tennis shoes. Like I said, I was kind of going for less casual look so I chose to wear this square-neck snakeskin top with a cute burgundy colored patent leather skirt. Since the look already had a lot going on, I toned it down a bit with a cropped denim jacket. I think this is great to do when you feel like an outfit is "too much". Just throw on a denim jacket and you're good to go! And of course it couldn't be a complete fall look without my knee-high boots. They're my favorite thing ever. I think they're flattering and do a great job at making us shorter girls look a little taller.

A Day in Valle de Guadalupe

One of my favorite weekend plans is, hands down, spending the day in Valle de Guadalupe. It's not a long drive from San Diego and once you get there, you'll be amazed by the charm this secluded wine country in Ensenada has. For a day in the vineyards I opted for a gingham dress and knee-high boots. It gets kind of chilly at night so I layered up with a turtleneck underneath and threw on an oversized denim jacket later at night.

Agua de Vid (Pancracia)

Agua de Vid is a cute boutique hotel I have been eyeing on Instagram for a while now. Its cool structure, laid-back vibe, and beautiful decor is why this new destination is a tourist hot spot. The hotel rooms are off to the side with an amazing view of the vineyards, while the 3-story restaurant, Pancracia, is located in the center. What I loved most about it was that each different area had the same amount of insane attention to detail to it. The photos below do not do it justice. If you're going to Valle anytime soon, you have got to check this place out. Plus, the food was amazing and the rooftop view was breathtaking.

Finca Altozano

It isn't a successful Valle trip without stopping at Finca Altozano. This time we didn't eat dinner here since we had previously gone to Pancracia, but we made sure to leave room for dessert! Located right next to Finca is a new delicious gelato shop called Ramonetti. It's small, but do not be fooled. Every flavor of gelato I tasted was out of this world. I ended up getting the choco-avellano (chocolate hazelnut) which was so creamy and delicious. It did not disappoint. After that, we walked on over to Lupe, aka torta heaven. We were still super stuffed so we took some tortas to-go for a late night snack. And if you thought I was done talking about food, think again. You can NEVER leave Finca Altozano without taking home one of their freshly baked sourdough baguettes. They are to die for! Now I'm done. Scroll down to see how aesthetically pleasing this place is too.
